They appear to have lost some of the edge. I tend to do this with TV shows -- watch them passonately for a while, then drop them once I feel like I've either gotten them or that they're not doing what they initially did.

Seems like t.v. could do more interesting things if they accepted the limits of a set of shows and if the PTB could ask the guys doing great show X without fat and filler to do another pilot for another show.

British televsion seems to do more with the medium than American television which tends to grind shows into the ground.

I think I'll keep my subversive backstory of Neil as poor white boy (I can still hear the Southern accent even after all the elocution and acting classes) whose taste and intelligence was greater than his station in life and who didn't believe that following the rules would ever work. Much more fun to have him that way than a victim turned con man. I knew a guy who was born poor in the Shenandoah Valley, one of the two smartest men I've ever met, whose only way out was the Catholic priesthood. And the Yankee Catholics tended to really be uneasy around him because he so utterly broke their cliches about rednecks. They thought he would be happier being a college professor.

Got checks written and mailed for some bills, directions to the interview on March 4th, and argued a lot on Usenet.
